If you received a recent email enthusing about our new Art Awards Facebook page, you may have had a look, you probably rolled your eyes, and you quite likely hit the delete button!
Not so Marianne Fennymore, who lost her sight 20 years ago, and who took the opportunity to write to us, telling us that she was currently putting the final touches to her entry,
“ using my fingertips...can't use a brush because I don't know where I am to get back to the canvas with my paint”
With the help of her guide dog Amber, Annie not only attends an art group, but is “a home visitor with Essex Blind Charity. I work with the older adult who has recently been diagnosed with sight loss. I go along, and ensure that they are fully aware of all services and products available to them to maintain their independence and lead a fulfilling life. I love the work, I love my art even more! It isn't great and it won't be found in the Tate - but there again who knows,eh?”
Gosh, what an inspiring story! If you would like to learn more about Annie, her website (still under development) is at www.blindalleyart.co.uk .
