Finally, with last week’s launch
of www.eacartawards.org.uk , all
the pieces are in place, to help make 2009 one of the best years ever for the
15 year old Art Awards.
Publicity materials (posters and
hard-copy entry forms) have now been sent out to art galleries and shops, art
groups and societies, libraries, U3A groups, summer schools, last year’s
entrants, and over 1500 providers from EAC’s database of specialist housing for
older people.
Two volunteers have joined EAC’s
Art Awards team over the last year; one based in the North West, and one in the
South West, with the purpose of bringing the Art Awards to a wider audience
this year. Please feel free to request help or advice from both volunteers.
They will be delighted to support and publicise the Awards in any way
requested. Please use the ‘contact us’ page on the website to get in touch.
The target this year is to
increase the number of entrants to 2000+, particularly encouraging entries from
previously under-represented parts of the country, eg the North, Scotland,
Wales and Northern Ireland.
What Happens Now?
The deadline for the 2009 Art
Awards is 26th October, so there are over three months to paint,
photograph, sculpt, sew, draw…whatever… to prepare an entry to the Awards. Once
completed, you can enter the competition online using the new website and attaching
a jpeg digital image of your entry, or alternatively, enter by post, enclosing
an A4 photo of your work.
Providers of Art classes in
specialist housing for older people might wish to consider a group entry or
project. If so, please let us know, and we will be delighted to support you.
